It is typical for economics books to be “too long” relative to what economists deliver in papers. It is interesting actually, some books (Why Nations Fail) could certainly have been shorter, while some require that length. In the case of Capital, to cover what he wanted, it needed to be that length with appendices (which I also made use of) and technical/data links.
