Comments on new theme welcome

Hello avid TVHE readers

Given that we are currently constrained to use wordpress themes (we will get our own hosting eventually and go custom), we keep a watch on the new themes that get added to see if any are more functional/look cooler then our current one.

One that appears to be a little more functional (I’m not sure I would say it’s cooler as it is a little girly!) has been released and we thought we would we would give it a go and see what you guys think.

The comment and post links on the right are a lot clearer and the posts also show the author, category and number of comments quite clearly at the beginning. Quotes are demarcated in text and it just feels a little less cluttered.

Please, let us know what you think!

Which reminds me, I need to get back onto the logo. This weekend’s out but I’ll have another crack next week.

I think it looks girly – but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I think you making a typical social error when you determine that things that are masculine are inherently “good” while feminized social objects are inherently “bad”. You are allowing that inherent social bias to infect you post – a very concerning outcome indeed!

Yes I have been reading about feminist economics if you were wondering.

Also, I like this theme better I think – as it is more spacious. However, I would like to hear what actual readers of the blog have to say.

There is no rush – it will probably be a while until we can get the resources to set this up properly. Especially after our last attempt was such a fail 🙁

My brother also says that it is “girly” – again what is wrong with girly, we need more comments from the fairer sex to balance our gender biases methinks.

Even if we don’t like this one, I agree with agnitio that we need to change it – the last one was too harsh, it didn’t suit our sensitive blog style 😛

“I think the background leaf shapes are a bit distracting and draw attention away from the text”

Fixed, also less girly without them;)

Yes – much better without the background.

I won’t engage in any misogynistic musings on the sexual orientation of the previous version on the grounds that it might incriminate me.

i was gonna say a little girly, but that seems to be the wrong thing to say.

Maybe a little bland. the theme is prob good, but you need some bolder colours etc. Comments certainly look better, well presented better…

I like it. It’s simple and discrete. Good design should not distract from the content, at best it might even enhance it. Great to see tvhe doing so well with solid and serious content and commentary. Congrats.
