James Bond: anti-trust crusader!?

I saw the new Bond flick, ‘Quantum of Solace’, over the weekend and I was amazed at how progressive it is. No longer does our alpha-male hero wreak destruction upon villains with moon bases, bent on world domination. His latest homicidal rampage is to prevent a new terror: oligopoly pricing. Read more

What to do?

It appears someone has created a site that copies our entire posts.

I have tried emailing the guy – but I didn’t get any response. What do you guys think we should do?

Update: So we have agreed it is a spam blog, and we should put a copyright on our site and posts.  Interestingly, when I looked up the site on Technorati I noted that the Standard links to “invest on credit” as well as us (both under “other blogs”) – random!  They would have linked because of the “quality” New Zealand content methinks 😉

I’ve just discovered Debatepedia!

In what could become an awesome resource for creating economics post, we have found Debatepedia.

We discovered the site after we found it linking to a post we did on progressive taxes in support of the argument that “progressive taxes adjust for random factors in wealth“. The full progressive tax debate is here. It is awesome how it provides background and short quotes summarising the arguments – while also providing links for people that want to get their hands dirty.

Truly awesome, and a great way for you guys to quickly find good counter-arguments to any dodgey points I try to make – not that you guys need any help 😉

We’ve been tagged

So we’ve been tagged by MandM (explaination of it here).

The rules are:

  • Link to the person who tagged you
  • Post the rules
  • Share seven random or weird facts about yourself
  • Tag 7 random people at the end of the post with their links
  • Let each person know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog

So, lets give it a go (note this post is under-construction 😉 – we will add “tags” later)

Our blog exhibits a variable personality

I just re-ran the “typealyzer” and our blog type changed considerably (from here):

ISTJ – The Duty Fulfillers

The responsible and hardworking type. They are especially attuned to the details of life and are careful about getting the facts right. Conservative by nature they are often reluctant to take any risks whatsoever.

The Duty Fulfillers are happy to be let alone and to be able to work int heir own pace. They know what they have to do and how to do it.

I am not sure that represents the nature of the blog at all 🙂

Comments on new theme welcome

Hello avid TVHE readers

Given that we are currently constrained to use wordpress themes (we will get our own hosting eventually and go custom), we keep a watch on the new themes that get added to see if any are more functional/look cooler then our current one.

One that appears to be a little more functional (I’m not sure I would say it’s cooler as it is a little girly!) has been released and we thought we would we would give it a go and see what you guys think.

The comment and post links on the right are a lot clearer and the posts also show the author, category and number of comments quite clearly at the beginning. Quotes are demarcated in text and it just feels a little less cluttered.

Please, let us know what you think!
